Sydney Airports Increase Women's Sevens Sponsorship

Sydney Airports have increased their Australian Women's Sevens Sponsorship

As the Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens team departed for their final leg of the 2016/17 HBSC World Series in Clermont-Ferrand in France on Sunday, Sydney Airport confirmed their support for the team for a further three years.

Sydney Airport, who became the first exclusive partner of the Australian Women’s Sevens team last year, have bolstered their support of the team as they prepare for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Rugby Sevens World Cup next year, ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

As part of the improved partnership, Sydney Airport will have a greater branding presence at the world-renowned Sydney7s tournaments and work with the Australian Sevens Women’s team to develop a player internship program to promote post-playing career opportunities for Women’s Sevens players.

Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said the partnership was an important part of their commitment to leadership in women’s sport.

“We were delighted to support the Australian Women’s Sevens when they took out the gold at the Rio Olympics last year and we continue to be a proud partner of the team,” Ms Mather said.

“The team is inspiring so many girls in our community to pursue their chosen sport to the very highest level and we’re excited about what’s ahead in the next three years.”

ARU General Manager of Commercial, John Nicholl said: “We are delighted that Sydney Airport have increased their support of our gold medal-winning Australian Women’s Sevens team, who are such great role models for young women in this country.

“With Sydney Airport’s commitment to leading and learning in the community, they are fitting partners of the Australian Women’s Sevens team who are similarly dedicated to promoting the positive benefits of leadership, education and teamwork.”
