NSW Women and Western Force Women have both started their Buildcorp Super W campaigns with victories in the opening round of the competition this weekend.

NSW took on arch rivals Queensland Women in a double header match at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, taking bragging rights with an 18-0 victory.

NSW Captain Ash Hewson was the star for NSW, providing a strong tactical kicking game that kept turning the Queensland defenders around.

A try to Chloe Leaupepe and the boot of Hewson with two penalties helped NSW to the victory in wet conditions in Brisbane.

Over in Perth the Western Force Women made an intimidating statement for their Buildcorp Super W campaign by outclassing the Melbourne Rebels 85-13 at Cottesloe Rugby Club.

Player of the tournament at the 2017 National Sevens Championship, Courtney Hodder showed some amazing form to score six tries throughout the match as the Force completely routed their Melbourne counterparts.

The Rebels woes were compounded when Sharlene Fagalilo was shown a red card for leading with her feet in a sliding tackle in the 26th minute.

In round two the Brumbies Women will start their campaign at GIO Stadium on Canberra against Queensland Women on Saturday 17 March and NSW will host the in form Western Force Women in Sydney.
