The ARU has taken the first step in creating a single sign-in portal for all online Rugby services. It is intended that, in future years, this portal will be the central place to sign in for a range of Rugby activities.

In 2016, this sign-in portal is only being used to link users into the new Rugby Learning Centre (RLC). This is a brand new system where you can take the new online Smart Rugby course, register for face-to-face courses run by State Unions, check your current accreditation and keep track of your progress gaining new accreditations.

The RLC User Guide contains several main topics that will assist users in navigating the system and providing a quick reference guide for those frequently asked questions (FAQs).

The main topics are:

  1. Logging into the Rugby Portal
  2. Basics of the Rugby Learning Centre
  3. Taking the new Smart Rugby online course
  4. Registering for courses or accreditation
  5. Registering your child for a camp

With the launch of the Rugby Learning Centre, one of the major changes to education within rugby union has been the development of Smart Rugby as an all-new online eLearning course.

Smart Rugby is thee mandatory accreditation for all coaches and referees of the tackle game in rugby union (U8's to seniors). To find out more information, please hit the following link: Smart Rugby.

Continual Professional Development (CPD)

The Australian Rugby Union coach development, education and training framework has been redesigned to focus heavily of the provision of ongoing, accessible, relevant coach development that provides coach support throughout a coach’s career. Although focusing upon education, the ARU coach development framework still provides accreditation following course attendance and the successful completion of all associated pre-course preparation and post course assessment.

The Australian Rugby Union is adopting a Continual Professional Development (CPD) point re - accreditation system that provides coaches with the flexibility to undertake ongoing education specific to their needs and interest.  The current accreditation a coach holds will determine the number of CPD accreditation points required to achieve re-accreditation.
